The Laboratories

Batemans Laboratories was founded in 1930 and moved to its present up-to-date premises in Godalming in 1961. Continued investment in modern machinery and equipment means that the Laboratories can offer a comprehensive prescription service to all branches and their patients.

Batemans Laboratories has set the highest standards and is at the forefront of modern technology in optical lens manufacturing and glazing and was the first prescription laboratory, in 1985, to achieve the prestigious British Standard BS 5750 (BS EN ISO 9002: 1994).

Stringent quality control procedures ensure that every lens is not only designed, but also ground, polished and glazed precisely to your prescription for maximum visual acuity.

Computerised lens thinning helps us to give our patients lenses which combine practical eyesight advantages with attractive appearance.

As an added benefit all our plastics Paragon lenses are supplied with a scratch resistant coating as standard and when combined with the latest advances in anti reflection coatings our lenses give superb light transmission, reduced reflections and a greatly improved appearance.
